4:30 EDT [Dow Jones] Cotton price breached the $1-a-pound level for the first
time in 15 years as delayed harvests and booming demand in Asia further tighten
global supplies and put clothing makers on edge. ICE October cotton settled
2.76 cents, or 2.8%, higher at $1.0037 a pound. Cold weather and a delayed
harvest in China, the world's No. 1 cotton grower, importer and consumer, has
the country's cotton association warning the industry to "stay rational and not
to follow the speculators."
