Cotton Rallies on Thursday
Barchart: Cotton futures rallied 81 to 139 points at Thursday's close, while crude oil eased just 50 cents a barrel and the dollar index fell 0.914. Export sales data for the week of July 23 showed 29,719 running bales sold for 2025/26 — a marketing-year low but typical for this final month of the season — alongside 352,447 running bales of new-crop business, a marketing-year high; Vietnam bought 245,500 bales and India 42,200 bales. Shipments totaled 233,795 bales, led by Vietnam (78,600) and Pakistan (49,400). The Cotlook A Index fell 35 points to 89.75 cents on July 29, ICE-certified stocks were unchanged at 90,699 bales, and the Adjusted World Price rose 84 points to 64.66 cents/lb. December settled at 80.67 cents, up 114 points.

US Cotton Export Sales – Week Ending July 23, 2026
USDA-FAS: The weekly Export Sales Highlights report for the week ending July 23, 2026 showed net sales of 29,719 running bales of Upland cotton for 2025/26 — the lowest of the marketing year, though a typical seasonal low this close to year-end — while new-crop (2026/27) bookings reached a marketing-year high of 352,447 running bales, led by Vietnam (245,500 bales) and India (42,200 bales). Total shipments for the week came to 233,795 running bales, with Vietnam (78,600 bales) and Pakistan (49,400 bales) the leading destinations.

Global Textile Machinery Shipments Shrank in 2025, Except for Spinning
ITMF: The International Textile Manufacturers Federation's 48th annual International Textile Machinery Shipment Statistics report found that global textile machinery shipments broadly declined in 2025, with spinning as the main exception. Shipments of new short-staple spindles rose 3.3% year-on-year to 6.11 million units, and open-end rotor shipments increased 3.5% to 645,000 units, with 94-95% of both going to Asia and Oceania; China, India and Bangladesh were the top short-staple investors. Long-staple (wool) spindle deliveries fell 42%. Draw-texturing spindle shipments dropped 21-23%, shuttle-less loom shipments fell 27.5% (led by declines in air-jet, rapier/projectile and water-jet looms), and large circular knitting machine shipments fell 13%, while flat knitting machine shipments dropped 22%. The finishing segment was a bright spot, edging up about 8% overall.

Enterprise Greece and SEPEE Partner to Boost Apparel and Textile Exports
Greek Fashion: The cooperation between Enterprise Greece and the Greek Apparel and Fashion Industry Association (ΣΕΠΕΕ) delivered strong results at this year's Munich Fabric Start trade fair (July 14-16), the largest fabric, accessories and raw-material exhibition in Germany and German-speaking markets, which drew more than 6,500 buyers from 32 countries and around 650 exhibitors. Eleven Greek apparel and textile companies took part — the second consecutive year of joint participation — holding 345 business meetings with foreign buyers that generated immediate orders worth €2.4 million. Greece's apparel and textile sector, one of the country's leading export industries, posted export value of €1.7 billion. The next Munich Fabric Start is scheduled for January 20-22, 2027.
