ITC Announces Events Promoting African Cotton

The International Trade Centre (ITC) on Trade Capacity Building and Promotion of African Cotton is hosting two upcoming events to promote African cotton. The activities are financed by the European Commission (EC) under the EC
 All ACP Agricultural Commodity program.

“Understanding the Chinese market and how to export cotton to China” will be held April 18-23 and provides training for 10 selected East African ginners organized together with the Ministry of Commerce. The objective of this training is to promote African cotton to China and to establish long-term relations. The training sessions include visits to spinning factories, the Qingdao port and cotton warehouses.

“Trade capacity building and promotion of Central/West African cotton to Bangladesh and Vietnam” will be held May 2-12. A delegation of up to 30 participants from Burkina Faso, Benin, Cameroon, Chad, Ivory Coast, Mali, Senegal and Togo will visit Bangladesh and Vietnam to promote African cotton. Country delegations consist of representatives from cotton companies (sales directors and chief classers) as well as farmer representatives. In addition, some inter-professional organizations have also been invited. ACA and AProCA and the UEOMA Secretariat will also be represented during the mission.
