Togo cotton output down by 15% in 2019/20

LOME, May 21 (Reuters) - Togo’s cotton production in the 2019/20 season was at 116,000 tonnes, 15% down from 137,000 tonnes the previous season and some way off its original target of 150,000 tonnes, the government said late on Wednesday.

“This decline in performance is due to this season’s rainfall which was atypical and badly shared in time and space,” said Agriculture Minister Noel Bataka.
