Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry Acting Permanent Secretary John Mulongoti says government remains committed to revamping the cotton value chain.
Mr. Mulongoti says the sector has potential to spur the economic diversification.
He was speaking in Lusaka during the official opening of National capacity building workshop on promoting Cotton products in Eastern and Southern Africa.
And Mr. Mulongoti says the government has realized the need to diversify the economy by investing in all sectors with potential for value addition.
Mr. Mulongoti said government is encouraging the cultivation of crops such as cotton, rice, wheat and coffee to earn the country more foreign exchange.
He said his ministry supports the growth of the cotton sector through Citizen Economic Empowerment Commission – CEEC- value chain cluster program.
