DJ MARKET TALK: Cotton Declines on Global Economic Uncertainty

14:59 EDT - Cotton futures fall to a 7-week low on the stronger dollar and weaker equities, falling to a 7-week low. "It's real hard to get bullish behind the cotton situation," says Citi's Sterling Smith. "The global economy remains stagnant at best," meaning people have little extra spending money for clothing. "With that we do see the potential for cotton to work lower," he adds. "The 65-cent area shouldn't be completely out of bounds." ICE cotton for December delivery settled 1.8% lower at 71.02c/lb., a low since Aug. 2.
