DJ MARKET TALK: Cotton Edges Lower as China Weighs on Prices

15:15 EDT - Cotton futures eased as the market anticipates the release of some of China's stockpiles. The China National Cotton Reserves Corp says it will sell 200,000-300,000 metric tons of the fiber onto the domestic market, loosening demand for imports from abroad. "Price will continue to be whipped around by Chinese policies," says the University of Georgia's Don Shurley. He adds that Hurricane Isaac has the potential to damage some of the South and Southeast cotton crops. ICE cotton for December delivery settled 0.7% lower at 75.62c/lb. in very thin trade.
