Pakistan losing $2-3bn as cotton production falls over 50%: report
Pakistan’s cotton output has fallen by more than half from its peak, a decline that is now costing the economy an estimated $2-3 billion a year in additional imports and lost export earnings, the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) said in a report titled ‘Seeds of Growth’ released on Wednesday.

CCFGroup: China cotton imports: Brazilian cotton remains the major supplier in Jun, 2026
China cotton imports: imports were 109.8kt in June 2026, up 82.6kt from the same period of last year, but down 3kt from previous month. In the first half year of 2026, imports totaled 934.7kt, up 103.2% or 474.7kt year-on-year, and from Sep 2025 to Jun 2026, imports amounted to 1.4148 million tons, up 52.6% or 487.6kt from the same period of 2024/25 season.
