Limited offers
The quotations in New York strongly went up at the beginning of this week, supported by the issuance of the monthly USDA Report on last Friday. The situation remained marked by limited available quantities of most origins for the 1st quarter 2011. On the offering side was no pressure to act. The demand of the industry for cotton remained robust, but limited by the development of the market. In focus was medium staple cotton most of all for near delivery.
Sales were reported in the medium staple range for Central Asian, Spanish and West African qualities for 1st quarter 2011 and for East African cotton for 2nd and 3rd quarter 2011.
For LS was sold contracted Giza 86 for 1st quarter 2011 and Israel Acalpi out of new crop for 4th quarter 2011.
