Innovation

Innovation has always been the essential philosophy of Thrakika Ekkokkistiria, in the company's effort to be one step ahead of developments in the industry and to offer its customers the best products and services. 

The company was the first ginning mill to create an HVI quality control laboratorywhile at the same time it developed a classification system, where each raw cotton bale has its own quality identity. 

It was the first ginning mill to be certified with the ISO 9002 quality system. 

Regarding environmental protection issues, the company is one of the main players in the production of sustainable textile products on a global level. 

In 1993 the company opened an energy production unit using biomass. 

In 1994 it began to produce certified organic cotton and for 12 years it was the only company in Europe doing so.

Furthermore, it was the first company in Greece to be certified with the ISO 14001 certification for its environmental strategies. 

Since 2015, the company produces certified cotton with sustainable farming practices (CSF) and since 2016 it has implemented the Gaiasense smart farming system 

At the same time, in recent years the company has implemented innovative systems in collaboration with cotton farmers, such as: price depending on the quality and variety of the seed cotton, price fixation all year long through the Stock Exchange, additional crop insurance in collaboration with Interamerican, custom ginning, provision of medical services, and more. 

In 2018, the company created the Cotton+ program, which pertains to the management of a higher quality cotton, from sowing to ginning, and its subsequent sale in the international market. 

Research and technology

In its effort to be a pioneer, Thrakika Ekkokkistiria places particular importance on research, aiming to create value-added products. 

Therefore, the company participates in several European research programs, which have yielded important results, such as Flexifunbar, Canvas, Nagrefiat, Biolose, TCBL, etc.

At the same time, the company funds new programs aiming to implement modern trends in cotton production, such as: smart farming, sustainability, traceability, digitization of processes, etc. 

Since 2019, the company has conducted research in the field with an experimental field.
