Price Increase Slowed Down
The raw cotton prices stabilized on a high level during the week under report. Compared with the key date the indices of Bremen and of the Cotlook A (FE) were virtually unchanged, the ICE quotations in New York slightly weaker. Enquiries by local spinning mills were described as "brisk". However, the conclusion of new contracts comprised just limited volumes because of the high prices and delivery not beyond the first half year 2010. Particular interest focused on the limited available extra-fine varieties. In this range business also remained restricted to small quantities.
In the Upland range turnovers were registered in Central Asian sorts, West African styles, and Greek descriptions for the 1st and 2nd quarter 2010.
In the fine and extra-fine range were traded: Egyptian GIZA 86 and GIZA 88, USA Pima, and Sudan Barakat.
