U.S. EXPORT SALES FOR WEEK ENDING 1/4/2024

Cotton:  Net sales of 262,500 RB for 2023/2024 were up noticeably from the previous week and up 49 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for China (117,900 RB, including decreases of 3,100 RB), Vietnam (117,900 RB, including 1,000 RB switched from South Korea, 900 RB switched from Macau, 700 RB switched from Japan, and decreases of 2,900 RB), Bangladesh (18,000 RB), Pakistan (11,300 RB), and South Korea (4,300 RB), were offset by reductions for Turkey (13,100 RB). Total net sales of 22,000 RB for 2024/2025 were for Turkey. Exports of 228,100 RB were up 7 percent from the previous week and 12 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to China (142,000 RB), Vietnam (21,200 RB), Bangladesh (11,400 RB), Indonesia (7,500 RB), and Turkey (7,200 RB). Net sales of Pima totaling 2,000 RB for 2023/2024 were down 5 percent from the previous week and 59 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for India (1,700 RB), China (200 RB), and Turkey (100 RB). Exports of 26,700 RB--a marketing-year high--were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to China (19,100 RB), Vietnam (2,400 RB), Egypt (2,100 RB), Thailand (1,000 RB), and Pakistan (900 RB).

 Optional Origin Sales:  For 2023/2024, the current outstanding balance of 4,400 RB were reported for Bangladesh.

 Exports for Own Account:  For 2023/2024, new exports for own account totaling 900 RB were to China. Exports for own account totaling 3,200 RB to China were applied to new or outstanding sales. The current exports for own account outstanding balance of 96,600 RB are for China (73,500 RB), Vietnam (14,500 RB), Pakistan (5,000 RB), South Korea (2,400 RB), and Turkey (1,200 RB).
