Wait times to deliver cotton to regional ginning facilities have blown out this year as the industry starts to process the record crop.

In Queensland's southern inland the gins will have to cope with all the cotton from Cubbie Station, where picking of Australia's largest ever cotton crop has just begun.

Another Dirranbandi farmer, who lives near Cubbie, has just finished picking his whole crop and has around 20 per cent of it ginned.

Douglas Crothers says he's lucky they got in early and wait times will more likely be months not weeks.

"We did finish picking on Tuesday this week so that's a real blessing for us as well" he says.

"Our classing results at this stage are very good with some small bonuses on some of the bales.

"We have had 20 per cent ginned and the turn outs we've had this year are probably the best turn outs we've ever had, so things in the cotton industry at the moment are looking relatively bright."
