Still limited activity

Quotations at the New York Cotton Exchange are further volatile with excessive movements during the day. Still the market shows reluctance, mainly due to works holidays. Also internationally, there is limited buying interest. In Islamic regions, the Ramadan has begun. In addition superordinate economic and political developments like in the Unites States or the not yet finished European financial crisis have restraining influence on the market activities. Demand is concentrated on near or prompt delivery but predominantly on the new crop.

In the Upland range were traded: West African cotton prompt and 3rd quarter, Argentina 1st and 2nd quarter 2012; Brazil 1st and 2nd quarter 2012, Spain 4th quarter 2011-2nd quarter 2012, Greece 1st quarter 2012 .

The sales in fine-/extra fine cottons comprised USA California Pima for prompt, Spain LS 4th quarter and Egyptian GIZA 86 for prompt.
