Demand Revitalized
Merchants received an increased number of enquiries for cotton from the spinners´ side after the end of the holidays. Some manufacturers seem to have still considerable demand for raw material available at short time in the first quarter 2011. Special interest was shown for Central Asian and West African origins. The conclusions of contracts in the domestic market were limited due to reduced availability and persistent high prices.
The conclusion of contracts was reported for Central Asian sorts for the 1st and 2nd quarter 2011; Greek descriptions for the 1st quarter 2011, and West African styles for the 2nd quarter 2011. Furthermore Israel Pima cotton was traded for the 1st quarter 2011.
