Calm Course of the Market

The constantly high price level and the few offers for short-term available cotton brought the number of enquiries down compared with the previous week. Also, the works holidays of the local spinning mills influenced the demand. However, there was still some interest for medium staple cotton for delivery short after the works holidays. In focus remained fine and extra fine cottons for later dates.

In the Upland range were traded: CIS and West African cottons for the 3rd quarter 2010 and Syrian for the 3rd and 4th quarter 2010.

Long- / extra long staple varieties were traded as follows: Egyptian GIZA 70 for the 3rd quarter 2010; Central Asian ELS for the 3rd and 4th quarter 2010; US Pima for the 4th quarter 2010 and for the 1st and 2nd quarter 2011, as well as Israel ACALPI for the 1st through 4th quarter 2011.
