BEIJING Oct 9 (Reuters) - China will issue low-tariff import quotas (TRQ) for wheat, rice, corn and cotton for 2013, with volumes unchanged from this year, as part of its commitment of being a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Import quotas for wheat will be set at 9.636 million tonnes, of which 90 percent will be issued to state-owned companies.
Corn import quotas will be 7.2 million tonnes, of which 60 percent will be allocated to state firms, said the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
The government will also issue 5.32 million tonnes of rice import quotas and 894,000 tonnes of cotton quotas, according to the announcement posted on the commission's website (www.ndrc.gov.cn).
Importers have to apply for the volume from the commission between October 15 to 30 and the commission will issue the quotas to qualified companies before January 1, 2012, according to the statement.
