Cotton ended lower on Wednesday, reversing the modest gains made on Monday and Tuesday and continuing to trade sideways as market activity remains remarkably slow.

After initially trading slightly higher after the open, selling pressure weighed on the lead December contract for the remainder of the session as the December closed just off the daily low.

The general agricultural commodity complex ended lower as cotton was joined in the red column by the grains and sugar as surplus balance sheets and technical selling weigh on price levels.

Rainfall totals in West Texas yesterday were generally disappointing with localized totals not more than about 15mm, but more rain chances are in the forecast for the duration of the week.
