ATAKPAME, Togo (Reuters) - Togo's cotton production will jump 21 percent to 100,000 tonnes in the 2013/2014 campaign that started in June, from 82,000 tonnes in the previous season, the NSCT, the firm that oversees the industry in the West African state said on Tuesday.An increase in planted acreage will enable the modest cotton producer to boost production, the NSCT's Secretary-General Norbert Yao Amecy said on the margins of seminar on sector in Atakpame, about 160 km (99 miles) north of the capital Lome.Cotton, alongside phosphates, is one of Togo's key export earners, contributing about 4.3 percent of its GDP. Its production bounced back dramatically from a low of 29,000 tonnes in 2009-2010.Farmgate cotton prices for the current season remain unchanged compared with the previous season, fixed at 230 CFA francs per kg for high quality cotton and 210 CFA francs per kg for second-grade harvest.
