Yesim Tekstil, one of Turkey's leading textile and garment manufacturers, has entered into a strategic cooperation with Kipas, supplier of cotton grown in environment-friendly conditions, for procuring cotton certified under the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI).

BCI cotton is currently being grown in pilot areas of Kahramanmaras city and is expected to arrive in the market over the next few months.

Yesim Tekstil said it is steadfast on its decision to use large volume of Better Cotton for its products, in response to the demands from its customers to use the same.

The company said globalization enables large companies to cooperate with each other with benefits accruing to both sides.

Kipas Holding said in recent years there is a growing demand from customers for BCI certified products.

BCI is a voluntary programme that aims to develop a market for a new mainstream commodity ΅Better CottonΆ, and thereby transform the cotton commodity to bring long-term benefits for the environment, farmers and other people dependent on cotton for their livelihood.

΅Better CottonΆ is currently grown in India, Pakistan, Mali and Brazil.
