Innovation was always basic philosophy of THRAKIKA EKKOKISTIRIA, in the effort to be always first in the developments and to offer to the customers the best products and services.
The company was the first ginning mill that created in 1994 a HVI laboratory for quality control. Also it developed a system for classification, where each produced bale has its own qualitative identity.
It was also the first ginning mill that was certified to be in compliance with the international quality standard ISO 9002.
The enterprise was a groundbreaking example in matters of policy for ecological subjects. Not only for the protection of the environment, but also in order to enters in news and many promising market.
Thrakika Ekkokistiria S.A.was a pioneer in the production of organic cotton (beginning in 1994 – 10 years after is still the only ginning mill in Europe) and in the production of environmentally friendly energy from biomass (leftovers from the ginning process).
It was also the first company in Greece to be accredited the ΙSO 14001 certification.
In order to deal with the serious problem of cotton being contaminated by foreign matter , Thrakika Ekkokistiria has introduced two modifications to the production process. The first involves the use of Jossi’s Vision Shield ’96, a special piece of equipment that has never previously been used in a ginning mill. The second modification is to replace plastic covers for balls with covers made of cotton.
As a result of these achievements, in 1997 the company was awarded the Golden Hephaestus, the Ministry of Development’s top prize for corporate environmental policy. In 1998 was awarded in Old Parlament with the ECO-Q prize, while in the same year the company was selected among the 20 most distinguished Greek industries, by an annual survey conducted on behalf of the financial magazine “OIKONOMIKOS TAXYDROMOS”.
